ABSURDA gallery is available to hire for exhibitions, events, performance, workshops and more…

Pricing is tailored to the needs of each event and there are a few options for payment (upfront, commissions, ticket sales, etc).
–Generally you should expect to pay $45/hr for short hires like workshops and single night events, and expect $600 for a full gallery installation (this covers a full day for install, a full day for uninstall and exhibitions can run anywhere from a weekend up to a week for this price, depending on staffing and technical requirements.
When meeting to discuss your event we can talk about how this can be paid, for example a previous exhibition had a live drawing event and the gallery collected ticket sales as the full fee.
Our focus is on emerging artists and creating memorable and distinct experiences for our audience. We are happy to work with you to make that happen!

    • Up to 6 trestle tables, full seating can be organised

    • Paper rolls and pens (extra stationary may be available, just ask)

    • House music system for BG music

    • Gallery director on-hand full time for setup and pack-down, as well as on-call for any assistance needed

    • Staffed bar available for night time workshops with options for themed drinks

    • Setup and pack-down anytime before and after the event at director’s discretion

  • All items included with workshop/day hire, plus:

    • Gallery hanging system (see full plan for details)

    • Full sales facilitation through venue’s square (card processing fees—1.6%)

    • Curatorial, exhibition design consultation and planning ahead of event, including 3D digital mock-up (as sketch-up link or file)

    • Didactic printing and installation (info to be provided by artists at least 48hrs prior to install)

    • PA sound system: 4x PA speakers 2x Subwoofer, sound desk and GEQ — $100-$200/night (separate to our BG music system, better suited to DJ or live music performance)

    • echo & bounce DJ — $70/hr (this goes 100% straight to the DJ)

    • Plinths and stages for artworks or performance — FREE

ABSURDA gallery offers a versatile and inspiring setting for a range of events, from art exhibitions, classes/workshops to pop-ups.

Part of the Woolloongabba cultural hub, ABSURDA is coupled with echo & bounce. This means there is opportunity to take advantage of the full venue when planning events.

The loft offers flexible rental packages with optional extras, curation and exhibition design consultation. Our focus is on local, emerging artists and we’re committed to working with you to make your ideas a reality.
